Type: Setter, Upside Down, and Anglerfish were all written following my Writing Scripts panel on Saturday at Rainfurrest. I had brought a pair of Android tablets with me to display the scripts which worked... sort of. I think in the future I'll have to work with the tablets more to make sure they don't shut off while reading. :)

Also, this was my first time using wireless microphones at a convention. I had about $200 in credit with BorrowLenses.com after a big project at work, and I decided to finally spend that credit getting a pair of Lectrosonics microphones. There are dozens of different brands when it comes to wireless microphones, but I've always noticed, on movie and television sets, you only see Lectrosonics. I once asked a production mixer why that was, and his answer was simple. "Because they're the only ones that count."

Having used them, I can see why they're so valued. The connectivity was spot on. I barely ever had an noise in the connection, and operating them was easy. Battery replacement was fast and simple, and both transmitter and receiver are delightfully small, perfect for mobile operation. The quality of the microphones provided by BorrowLenses.com was less than stellar, though, so while the wireless capabilities were excellent, the sound quality I got was less than ideal. Not terrible-- much of the distortion in these recordings was from my noise-and-reverb reduction settings-- but I definitely prefer the sound of my Countryman wired over these.

Still, I never pass up on a chance to use new gear!
