A while back, a friend bought me a pikachu fleece hat at the local anime hobby store that was hosting a mini cosplay gathering. When I started wearing it around my college campus I had two people approach me begging to know where I had gotten the hat, and were sad to hear that it was from a little shop in another state. As they were good acquaintances of mine, I used my fleece hat pattern to make hats for them as a holiday surprise!
