Omg, well thank you! I did this a little while ago, so I can't remember real well... I think it took somewhere around 30-40 minutes maybe??
I do a really rough grey scale, then throw colors and overlays over it, with some minor touch ups over the top. So for me, considering my regular process, this is definitely more a sketch in comparison ;v;

That's really interesting. O: Do you feel like grey-scale works faster than coloring right away? It definitely explains how it looks so painted despite being done so fast. And I guess the more your skill level increases, the more you can do in a short time? At least that's what I've been noticing with other artists, it's pretty cool.
Yes, grey scale is definitely faster! When just coloring right away, you have to take the time to properly blend and pick colors and to make sure nothing gets really muddy. If I grey scale first, I'm only working in volumes instead, and can just cheat by throwing flat colors on top afterwords. It's much faster that way, but when I do quality non-sketched pieces I prefer to paint with color instead because I feel it's more vibrant. Something about greyscale paintings always seem a bit flatter, or duller to me--at least, when it comes to my own work.
Yeah, I guess with grey-scale painting is also a bit easier/faster since you don't have to care about color edges as much just yet.
I think I know what you mean though, with painting right away it's unpredictable what happens with the colors and where they go for some part, while coloring afterwards has everything be a bit softer and controlled? At least that's what I'd imagine.
Thanks though! It's interesting to hear how other people feel about drawing certain ways.
