Multiple attacks have occurred throughout Paris tonight. The total death toll and the number of injured are still being tabulated, but the attackers are clearly the religious extremists who have blighted world history since the bombing of the King David Hotel back in the late 1940s.
I am by nature generally tolerant, but a deep understanding of history and the world has resulted in me having absolutely no tolerance for extremism. Not religious, not political, nope, no, zip, nada.
Tonight, I stand in solidarity with the people of Paris.

why do you say clearly religious extremists?
this is what we're used to hearing assumed, but there's no obvious reason to make that assumption beyond familiarity with it being made.
at this point there's no clear indication as to who or what they are. only that they organized to kill people in multiple locations at the same time.

I said, and still say as long as I can draw breath - extremists of ANY variety.
I say religious extremists because the usual political troublemakers - IRA, ETA, Baader-Meinhof, PLO - are quiescent or defanged. I say religious because it's a fair assumption to make. In fact, I'll assign it a probability of 80%, plus-minus five.
One of the Chattering Class said that there had been no computer or cell phone traffic to indicate this, and I laughed. Are people so tech-dependent that they can't imagine a guy running back and forth on a motorcycle with a note in his pocket?
