well, where i live (well me at least, i do not kno about the others) say love for friends and lovers

in sweden we dont say (i love you) to friends we only say it to our parents or our partners

In Brazil it is kinda common saying "I love you" to close friends, but it's a different kind of love, but saying it sometimes makes those awkward situations...

I never saw it happen with men, but I saw it hundreds of times with women...
