Yes, this is a cast-of-thousands story, isn't it? Readers of "The Ballad of Adler Young" may recognize the new (to this Saga) player; here, we see her very early in her career, when Albert Chesswick was merely a successful author and constant figure on Der Mass-scry Vulpitania, or DMV.
DMV, for those interested, is owned by VT&T: Vulpitania Telepathy and Tilapia.
I'm pretty sure there's at least one Ayn Rand fan among the readers, here. It took me two goes to get through The Fountainhead, and when you want to strangle the protagonist of the story, it's rarely a good sign. The notion of a Fidel Castro-length speech by a central character (I'm told there's one in Atlas Shrugged) is enough to make one quail. In a slight surprise for one of my political views, I rather enjoy taking the mick from Rand.

As for Rand, 90% dross and 10% genius. Digging out the gems is the rewarding part.
