Making someone stop something, even if you tell them -why- doesn't always mean they'll learn their lesson.

Sometimes... sometimes it takes those people realizing that they -can- stop themselves, to actually end the problem.

Relying on an imaginary deity to 'stop' something when we are capable to stopping it ourselves is just making excuses.

Whether or not you believe in something does not detract from others' reasoning.

In fact. That's a large cause of many of those wars, so stopping the wars might start with not belittling other's beliefs.

Not belief, just fact. People used to believe in the Roman gods, people used to believe in the Greek gods, people used to believe in the Egyptian gods, but none are worshiped anymore, why should 'modern' deities get a free pass?

Person A "Knows" for certain that god exists.
Person B "Knows" for certain god doesn't.

Neither can be proven neither can be dis-proven.

Both are beliefs and both are valid.

And people still worship both the Egyptian and the Greek/Roman gods.

God doesn't exist, religion is a man-made notion. And each religion creates their god(s) according to the rulers of the religion. Mostly to control the masses or extort from them.

It's highly debatable if people can stop themselves at all. Some flatout refuse to listen to common sense. That is the small handful, while a much wider grasp of civilization as a whole probably never come to that concept at all.
