Raúna, Male Flight
Okay, this one was a challenge for me. A special speices called Raúna. The female of the species seems to prefer magical means to gain flight, but the males are more technology based. My challenge was to design a set of mechanical bat wings much like DaVinci would have done. This was not easy, and I was glad it was the last picture of the night for I took far longer than expected to get this to work right.
I hope I came up with something believable yet still fantasy to work.

it was awesome to watch, and it will be fun to fully work it out later. :)

despite the powerful little clockwork in the backpack flying is still work. you have to feel the air and adjust the wings, and more or less dive into the currents. you have to EARN it.
but there is still the fascination those ballooon-drivers will never be able to experience. and this thing weighs less than a balloon, too. somethign about two beer steins full. the new one is said to be even lighter, but they attached it to a corset... no thanks, he said, strap-on is fine. :)
