Is this Ms Paint? If it is, you can use the airbrush to make a soft (black and white) background. This can highlight the scene.

yup, but i suck horribly with that tool... i tried and the background looked too choppy

I can made a better one I dont use reference for this one, I just want to show you that it can be done a good background with paint airbrush.
