Another bit of genius from
tegerio, tied to "Within the Hollow Crown."
I'm not sure which is the thing I like the most. The Wolf Queen pose here is excellent, but I also very much like the design of King Alastair. The background is very Gorey (appropriate for the story), and as usual, Teg is able to capture a disgruntled look on WW5.
Still trying to figure out why I can't get this to fit into the .pdf...

Ospreys are virtually the pet bird species of my area of Connecticut -- they're greatly loved, especially since they came back from near-extinction in the 1970s. Thus, the depiction by
tegerio seemed quite natural to me.
So, reading your comment, I went to my handy-dandy "A Field Guide to the Birds," written by Connecticut native Roger Tory Peterson (himself a beloved figure in my area of Connecticut). This is what he has to say about ospreys:
"Head largely white, suggestive of Bald Eagle, but has broad black patch through cheeks." (italics in original)
Granted, now that you say it, it does sort of look like the mask Friz Freleng put on Yosemite Sam, but I assure you that "real" ospreys do have that sort of a marking, and Teg is on point.
