Been playing through Dragon Quest so it's time for me to draw stuff of my favorite monster.

The mobile ports are $15 bucks and finding them used at Gamestop puts them at $20, and you probably won't find them cheaper on eBay, even unboxed, except maybe IV which sold the best.
OH, and Dragon Quest IV on DS doesn't have a feature called "party talk", where you press a button to talk to the party while walking around. Unfortunately that's maybe more than half of the dialogue in the game; almost every character in your party has something to say after each story beat and after talking to NPCs, even cats that just say "meow", so there, the mobile port of IV is the definitive version. But V and VI are fully featured on either.

I remember Dragon Quest VIII having something like that party talk, which I really liked because it was an excellent way to remember where to go if you forgot. That's something I do a lot too. I'll definitely look into it, I still have to beat Dragon Quest II. I can't believe how big the map is for an NES game!
