Alright like promised, here's part 9 of that story I'm writing...
Next Morning as Eric woke up he prepared himself and went straight to the duelling fields in the hotel, since the day just started he was the only one there, he made Shuixiao came out and explained what he wanted to see so Shuixiao could try it. Eric wanted Shuixiao to use Charm but right after that to use Bubbles to capture those little pink heart from the Charm attack into the bubbles of Bubble. Shuixiao tried and for the first couple of times the combination was totally missed sometime the heart making the bubbles pop or bouncing on the bubbles. Not remarking that someone else entered the room as he was too busy trying to make the combination perfect. He tried again and again asking Shuixiao to aim the bubbles at different angles each time until his vision came perfectly like he saw in his head. As Shuixiao finally had the move correctly, that other person said out loud: “Nice move, you should totally use it in the contest’s preliminaries in 2 days.” Eric jolted in surprise from that phrase as he didn’t remarked that someone else was here, he turned around and looked at who said it. It was a mid-back long light green haired girl with purple eyes, she was wearing a sleeveless lavenderish gown. She had a Rattata sitting on her right shoulder. Eric asked who she was, and the mysterious girl said that her name was Rachel and declared that she was here for the contest too, but that if she knew a performer as good as Eric would be participating, she wouldn’t have took the task of coming from Mediemetal Town. Eric then told that he wasn’t this good he just came out with that in a dream during last night. Rachel added after it: “That is nearly perfect, you just need to ask Shuixiao to use Ice Beam on the bubbles after it and you would get an easy nearly perfect score even in the first contest.” Eric not knowing what she meant he asked Shuixiao to try the combination once again still landing perfectly but right after that he ordered Shuixiao to use Ice Beam on the bubbles. Shuixiao surprised about the order turned toward Eric looking at him wondering what Eric meant with that. The Bubbles had time to fall on the ground popping before the heart disappeared too. Eric turned toward Rachel who looked at the scene and after what seemed to be herself thinking, she said out loud: “Oh yeah, that’s right, Shuixiao can’t use Ice Beam yet, they need to evolve into Shuiflo to be able to use Ice Beam… my bad, well at least you have 2 of the moves combined for now.”
As Eric and Rachel talked more of different combo move Kirlia came out of her pokeball and Rachel saw her for the first time. “Oh wow!! You have a Kirlia too!! And look at this cutie, a light blue Kirlia, I’ve never seen one before.” Rachel said as she looked at Kirlia. Eric told Rachel that Kirlia was his first pokemon and that he got her when she was still just a small Ralts, and after talking for a while he told Rachel that if she was able to keep a secret as he didn’t wanted it to be learned by everyone, he could show him something else that Kirlia can do. After getting the affirmation from Rachel that she wouldn’t say that secret out loud, Eric said: “Kirlia, can you tell me what you think of Rachel?” Kirlia answered in the human tongue: “Rachel is different from Emily, she seems nicer to me and you.” Rachel couldn’t believe her ears, Kirlia talked and she understood it. “H-How is it possible? Is it some kind of trick?” Rachel asked still surprised from hearing Kirlia talk. Eric shown Rachel Kirlia’s Wish Ball and explained that when you capture a pokemon with it, the pokemon evolve faster but gain an unknown side effect in the process, and that Kirlia did gained the ability to speak Human. Rachel still amazed by that strange ability, she asked if James had any other pokemon with strange ability. Eric told her that except Shuixiao and Kirlia he only had another pokemon since yesterday in fact, a Ponyta that he received from a trade when he sent a Growlithe for. He then asked Rachel since she now knew what pokemon he had to at least tell him what was her pokemon except that Rattata on her shoulder.
Rachel said that she would not tell but show him. She took a pokeball and threw her in the air saying in the same time: “Come on out, Pachirisu!!” A white and blue squirrel looking pokemon came out of the pokeball. Eric in his habits said out loud as he looked at this new pokemon: “Pachi… what? What is this pokemon?” He pointed again his pokedex toward the cute little pokemon and the pokedex gave the info: “Pachirisu, the Elesquirrel pokemon, Pachirisu makes electricity with pouches in its cheeks and shoots charges from its tail. It lives atop trees.” Before Eric put back his pokedex in his backpack he asked if Rachel had any other pokemon and as she heard this she suddenly said like she just remembered something: “oh no… I’m getting late… need to go to Harrenby, meet professor Estelle and get my first starter pokemon as fast as I can.” She ran toward the door as she said this but stopped right before getting out of the room. She turned toward Eric and asked him if he wanted to come with her.
Eric not having anything to do was tempted in following her, but he had to ask first if Emily wanted to follow them so he went back to the room and asked Emily who was preparing herself for the day if she wanted to do a quick trip back to Harrenby and come back before the start of the Contest. Emily looked at him like he lost his mind or something else. “Are you crazy? The contest is the day after tomorrow; we would never have time to get back here in time.” Eric insisted though as he said that this girl named Rachel offered them to follow her to Harrenby and come back in Starrock so she could get her starter pokemon before the first contest. Emily stubborn like a mule responded: “Fine, go if you want, but don’t be sad if you arrive too late for your preliminary round selection performance. Me I’ll stay in Starrock City and finish my preparation for it.” On these words Eric told Emily that he will be back as fast as he can and turned heels and joined back Rachel who was waiting for him just outside of the entrance of the Hotel.
Both Eric and Rachel ran south back on route 103 directly straight to the northern entrance of Deep Voice Forest which they passed as fast as they could. Now just a short speed walk through Route 102 and the city limits of Harrenby was on range of sight. The day was now over though and the city gates was closed at night for an unknown reason, so Eric and Rachel had to sleep under the stars this night. They did and the next morning, as they entered the town they went directly to Professor Estelle Lab and entered. Professor Estelle was busy cleaning a Manderspark and as Rachel saw the small salamander pokemon she said out loud: “Aww!! He’s such a cutie!!! I already know who I want” Estelle who didn’t heard them enter behind her, jolted and nearly sprayed the fire type pokemon with a glass of water that she was drinking while taking a small pause in her cleaning. Estelle turned around and recognized Eric. “Eric? What are you doing here? And where is Emily? Did something happened to her? And… who is she?” Eric explained everything, presenting Rachel to professor Estelle, he explained about Emily deciding to wait in Starrock City and that they’re on a rush to get back to be back before the contest start. Estelle seeming to think a little: “Wait… Rachel?... From Mediemetal town, the same Rachel who is the younger sister of Frederic, who is one half of the actual contest champions in Mediemetal town?” Rachel said that she was indeed Frederic’s younger sister, but that she was only brother and sister by blood only… Estelle not wanting to go further deep as Rachel seemed to be fulminating about being called Frederic’s younger sister; she asked Rachel which starter she wanted to try to change the subject.
Rachel changing temper completely in not even a second told with a smile that she would like that cutie over there, showing Manderspark on the cleaning table. Estelle told that she would finish cleaning it and gave it to Rachel then. Minutes later Rachel now had a brand new pokemon in Manderspark and decided to go back to Starrock City as soon as possible. Estelle only had time to grab Eric by the arm as Rachel was pulling him out, telling to Rachel that she wanted to tell something in private to Eric. Rachel said that she would go out but that they shouldn’t stay too long in Harrenby as the contest preliminary rounds was starting tomorrow afternoon. After Rachel was out, Estelle asked Eric to try to help Rachel make peace with her older brother. As those two were torn apart by some kind of quarrels that only both of them knew. Eric told that he would at least try to understand what it was on his way back with her to Starrock City, but that indeed they had to get back as soon as possible. He thanked Estelle and told her that he would ask Emily to call her after the contest was over. She thanked him and he went out to join back Rachel.
As Eric came out, Rachel told that they had to run back to Starrock City if they wanted to arrive before the start of the contest… As Eric was about to say something, Rachel turned heels and started running toward the North, Eric could only follow her as fast as he could. Hours later they were already in front of the pokemon Center where Eric brought back Kirlia days ago to heal her. But the time wasn’t to the stop to thank nurse Joy again, they continued their run and after a while after this, they arrived at the Entrance to Starrock City, the music indicating that the contest’s preliminary round was about to start started playing in all the city when Eric and Rachel crossed the city gates. “Just in time” Rachel said as she continued to run toward the three-floored building where Eric registered a couple of days ago and as they entered the preliminary round was already started. Someone said on the intercom “Rachel, please come to the stage or you would be disqualified..” Rachel hearing that said a “oh no… gonna be late… talk to you later Eric, I really need to go now…” with this Eric was about to wish her good luck but Rachel was already out of hearing voice. Eric said out loud to himself while smiling to what he said: “I swear; that girl could win the pokeleague games in running if she would register herself in the event…” Following Rachel to that room she entered instants ago to go look at her performance. As he entered he looked at the audience to find Emily and after a moment he found her sitting in the fourth row an available seat next to her, he went and took it. Emily asking him if the run was fun while Rachel was appearing on the stage under the spotlight.
