Estvan seems to depend on personal charm and misdirection, and the Doe-Moot has been singularly resistant to him. He's gotten himself swatted any number of times.
And this will be -very- interesting when Anastasia gets back. She said that Stella was, in effect, her regent in the Vale while she was away, and if Stella is acting against Fletcher... whose side will she take? We don't know for sure if the siege is Anastasia's idea, or something that Fletcher came up with on her own.
I am pretty sure that putting Zonya in a haunted house was -not- her idea.

I relate a famous Battle-Kenning from the early part of Athanasius' reign:
"Know, fool, you face Umberto :: fierce sword-elf of Valley Greene
With magick blade Exacerbrand :: short work I'll - URK!"
(In memory of Umberto of Valley Greene, who fell on the field of Vogelsburg in the 48th year of Athanasius the Intemperate)
