Well I went to go see Zootopia a while back and....it's been stuck in my head ever since. XD Seriously awesome movie. Go see it if you haven't. Anyway it got me thinking so I decided to try and do Lig in the Zootopia style. I've actually thought up some alternate background stuff for a Zootopia version of Lig, his family, and of course the other members of the hybrid trio Balt and Dylan. All of whom will come later as I have several other original Zootopia OCs to work on after this. XD
It was a rainy day in Zootopia. Lig could hear the rain drops falling outside which ruined his plans to go meet Balt and Dylan at the park that day. But with a lil coaksing from Warren Lig did eventually quite moping and started looking around for things to do as Warren quickly buried his nose in his cell phone and began texting with what to Lig looked like a silly grin. Of course the 7 "and a half!" year old Liger didn't recognize that in love smile which of course their mom had. Lig eventually decided to start drawing and laid out some supplies on his activity table and started randomly coloring a simple little scene. It was by no means impressive but it was still a nice little piece and Lig quite enjoyed drawing things and was getting better at it all the time. As Lig continued to draw his dad walked by stopping a moment to watch his little budding artist at work and smiled. After a few moments Lig looked up taking note.
"Hi daddy. I drew a house on the hill side! See!" Lig exclaimed leaning on the table before moving aside to give a better view.
"I see. You did a good job there Lig." Devin smiled down at him and ruffled Lig's scruffy little mane.
"Hehe. I'm gonna keep drawing and stuff until I'm the bestest! Lig Weather. Pawpers Model and best artist." Lig grinned big with hands on his hips.
"Hehe. I"m sure you'll get there." Devin nodded with a softer smile. Only Lig could be so sunny about something like modeling diapers at his age. He didn't quite understand his son's fascination with them or related items, well maybe he did a bit as Lig had never been able to be out of them, but it made his son happy even in the face of bullies who Lig perplex by taking their taunts as compliments.
"Dev honey. We've got mail!" Trisha called out as she walked back into the apartment.
"Ooo! Did we get the Space magazine?!" Lig asked putting the crayon he had down and scampered over.
"D-did my magazine come mom?" Warren asked with a bit of a blush given his would have prominently featured one of Gazzel's backup dancers on the cover.
"Sorry boys. No and No. But we did get something from Irine." Trisha said somewhat lamely as she he held up the envelope.
"Blah! Auntie Irine's a big meanie face! She thinks I'm a dumb dumb!" Lig pouted crossing his arms. "I can name all the planets and know the words for DNA."
"What she send us." Devin asked heaving a sigh and running a hand through his mane.
"It looks like....well I'll be. It's an invitation to a family reunion." Trisha said after reading it with mild surprise.
"I bet she sent it just cause she thought she had to." Warren griped crossing his arms too. "We're not going are we mom?"
"I dunno. I mean I would like to see dad and Tami. But Mom and Irine. Not to mention the rest. I don't exactly want to spend the day trying to quirely ignore all the judging from the rest of the family." Trisha said with a sigh and rubbed a shoulder as she thought about it.
"The other kids are no fun! They treat me like a weirdo! Cuz of...everything!" Lig went on pouting a bit more. "And they push me around."
"I don't like the cousins either mom. Except for Terry." Warren chimed in earning a nod from Lig.
"Yeah! Terry's the only nice one and he gets it just as bad being a hybrid too." Lig affirmed.
"I say we call Tami and see about arranging something to visit them. Or maybe invite them out here to the city." Devin suggested to his wife.
"Hmmm. Might not be a bad idea. I'll give her a call. Maybe we can quietly arrange something with dad too." Trisha nodded as she folded the letter with a sigh as she made her way to the kitchen. Devin picked up on the sigh and followed on after her.
"Why's mom so sad?" Lig asked looking up to Warren having picked up on it too.
"Mom just wishes she didn't have to do all this just to have some time with family." Warren explained.
"Why can't auntie Irine and Granma be more like Daddy's side?" Lig asked tilting his head ears drooped.
"I don't know lil bud. I wish they were too though." Warren said scooping Lig up into his arms. "Come on lets see if we can find something on TV."
"Okay." Lig nodded not sounding sad but not sounding quite back to normal yet.
"We'll bring your stuff over tot he coffee table too and you can draw me something from the show." Warren suggested as he sat Lig down in front of the couch.
"Oooo! Sure I can do it!" Lig nodded enthusiastically and scampered back to his table to get his things. Warren smiled wishing it was so easy to cheer himself up. He often found himself wishing he were just a bit more like his little bro and didn't care as much about what others thought. But it was hard not to though. Still Warren pushed those thoughts aside as he settled in on the couch and Lig sat at his feet at the coffee table. The Budding Artist hard at work drawing as requested. After all he needed practice if he was going to be a "best artist"
Well hope you guys liked the pid and liked the lil story. ^^
