I lost the sketch to this almost a year ago. Found it and inked it. 8 distinct forms of Indian classical dance + another traditional form. The people who I drew it for probably forgot long ago. Sorry to keep you waiting so long regardless. Sometime I hope to color this. :D Characters © their owners. Yes, cultural studies rock.

I dunno after a while of looking through pictures and websites. Some of the costumes just sort of started looking the same. Dandiya Raas was hard to find, it wasn't like in the classic dances (where most of them I found) more like folk..but only figured it out because of the sticks. Next time put the Chaari Dance one, that one seem crazy to dance with those pots
Now I can go to bed happy, thank you.

I admittedly know nothing about this theme, but I would love to learn, because after studying up on some of them that I already knew about, I fell in love with the dancing and the music and clothing usually associated with them. :) I don't think I ever saw the sketch, so this took me by complete surprise - as I figured I would, I looked up Dandiya Raas and fell in love with it ^^ These are all so adorable, I love how you portrayed each one. I have a lot of reading to do now. Gee thanks. XD
http://community.livejournal.com/as.....art/79475.html you might like these so I'll leave this here
It's from an old Sufi poem from the Punjab, by Bulle Shah. Bulle Shah is initially turned down as a spiritual disciple (mureed) by Shah Inayat. He then dresses as a woman and dances in Shah Inayat's court. When he realizes that it is really Bulle Shah, he is so moved that he finally accepts him. Or something like that.
