After getting on a new TV reality show, our protagonist must outlast all the other contestants, and surviving on his own deserted island. The first day goes well, until… hunger sets in. After much searching he finds himself in a fruit-tree forest, however most of branches of the trees are too high to climb, or occupied by chimpanzees, who seem unwilling to share.
After a short while, he finds a tree with a single bunch of bananas hanging low enough for him to reach, though strangely neglected by the animals of the Island.
As he retrieves the bunch and eats the fruit, somehow the thought of prize money evaporates, in favor of more bananas. He’s only dimly aware of the changes as the flavor overwhelms him. I think don't he won the contest, (rules have a stipulation about remaining human) but he seems to have accepted his consolation prize.
