They lost, in the end.
I downloaded an App called Habitica, which assists in gamifying your life to help you be more productive. The game addict in me loves it. Anyway, you can join guilds, and I joined one for writers. There was a prompt called, "There's a spider" in here, and for some reason I immediately thought of Kappa.
What a lovely gap it would be if the strong, reliable, and clever demonling was terrified of spiders. (In the end, I feel like he's only terrified if he's around these two, and probably doesn't complain much if he's alone.) But he refuses to go into the inn room because there's a spider.
What I thought Tima would do was walk in and step on the damn thing, but it turns out Tima is rather delicate as well. Felicia was the bravest of the three, but only once the spider was actually burning...
In the end, out of the Opaque cast, I believe that Sophia is the only one who can handle spiders. Furthermore, she probably would have walked in and grabbed the thing and thrown it out the window. (Oh, Kappa's face... I can imagine it.)
I had fun writing the short burp of a story -- I managed to force out 1600 words for it!-- and even more fun drawing this. It was the first time I drew a spider, and as it turns out -- aside from their ugly faces -- they're not /THAT/ difficult to make look presentable inside of a manga-esque drawing.
