According to the story, Souffle is her uncle. Jack is her father. Of course, the telling of that story is supposed to be coming from Jack, anyway, so who knows how twisted it is, as far as the truth goes.
Souffle was caught in bed with Gem's Mama (I forget her character's name), but Gem is still Jack's baby, according to her and to Souffle.
Now, here's an interesting point, and I'm not sure if it was an oversight in the drawing of the page, or was intentional. Gem has grown up from Gem to Gemma, baby to adult. So, thirty some years. Souffle does not appear to have aged a day. You would think that 30 years later, he'd be a little a little more grey, maybe a little older looking. So, is this another dream, or what? I don't know.

The only explanation I could give for that is that she's hallucinating seeing her uncle. It would explain why Souffle isn't older. Remember this is a flashback of what happened during the trial and she started to see what she saw in the nightmare she had with the very exact courtroom.
Oh crud, I got a bad feeling once she's led outside the courthouse doors she'll hallucinate seeing her destroyed house like she saw in her nightmare when she ran out the doors into the nightmare house.

I'll take your word for it. However, I didn't get state of confusion, or I shouldn't be here. I kind of got a feeling of non-association, just someone called my name, what's it about. But, since he SHOULD know who she is, why any of it? Where's the familial love?
This part of the story is very good, very confusing, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens here. You said a while ago maybe only 35 more pages, so unless this turns out to be some sort of a dream, or a nightmare, I think it's going to take a lot more than 35 pages to finish it. I really hope this story isn't a dream, and she just wakes up, and that's it. I've only seen ONE story where it was all a dream, and it was pulled off so well it was amazing. That was the end of the 'Newhart' show, the very last episode, and it was filmed in front of a studio audience, and he wakes up in bed, complaining that he had the worst nightmare, and his 'wife' turns out to be his wife from his previous show, 'The Bob Newhart Show', Suzanne Pleshette.

Then why didn't he answer to Jack, but he did respond to Souffle? There are possibly many people named Jack, but still, when someone says my name, whether it's to me or not, I turn around and look. I can't see that Jack would be any different. Yet, at 'Souffle', he turned and looked. Of course, maybe it wasn't Jack OR Souffle, and someone thought she was serving breakfast, but I don't think that's the case. :)
I mentioned earlier in the comments about Jack or Souffle not appearing to have aged any. That might happen in a dream, but there's another disconnect here that's bothering me as well.
Gemma is talking to Dr. Nick and Paul, and neither one of them know about the other dream, or any of the dreams Gemma has been having, about being little, being Gem, anything she's gone through. So, she's telling them about 'the other' dream where Souffle, or Jack is there, and how it's like Deja Vu because of her other dream, and neither one of them should know anything about those dreams at all.
That makes all of what she's telling them not very logical or sensical, or rational. I hope that she is able to explain all of this stuff to both Dr. Nick and, more importantly, Paul, so they understand what's been going on.
Unless, of course, this is Star having a really weird nightmare after too much drinking and card playing and being caught in her own diapers. :)
