"My name is Kameron Sinclair. I'm an Agent for the Independent faction. For those that don't know, the Independents are any were species that don't fit in to one of the larger groups. In a way, that makes us perfect for the odd jobs since we're seen as neutral, having no stake in the politics of were culture like the others do. As an Agent, it's my job to track down and stop rogue weres that are potential problems for the rest of us and do what needs to be done.
I became a were bear when I was 16. My father introduced me to this life when he felt I was old enough. My mother was human, and from what he tells me the were thing isn't genetic per se. While he loved it, my mother never wanted to be anything other than what she was, so he never turned her. As dad explained it, you only get a were by birth if you mate and are born in were form or if both your parents are weres. Otherwise, the third helix in our DNA doesn't transfer. I think it's somewhat like a recessive gene.
When I became 22 I became an Agent. My first job was to bring in a rogue werewolf that had decided to try and control a small Eastern European nation with one of their old myths. He'd even blended in as one of the townspeople to set up the con. When I arrived, he wasn't happy to see me. The thing is, were creatures can sense each other. It's not exactly a smell thing, but the moment I passed him I knew.
He fought me, as I knew he would, and it took all night before I finally took him down.
I've been bringing in rogue weres for the Pack and the Herd ever since. My latest job was to track down a werewolf somewhere in the Eastern United States. Finding one werewolf in a city of ten million, this might take a while. Hopefully he hasn't infected anyone else by now.
