Another amazing piece from
racoonwolf that I've had in mind for awhile. Combining a few elements of film pieces I rather like.
The setting is from the gas station scene in Evan, a Miami Vice episode; a relatively advanced and depressing look at the struggles a gay person can find in the workplace. The monologue from that scene was something I remember quite well and the long lasting implications that such issues can cause, for all involved.
The car featured is from the 1978 movie, The Driver, is a 1974 Trans Am. For a 70s movie, it has a minimal amount of cheese/corniness involved and, for the most part, manages to maintain a fairly serious tone with an absence of dialogue, particularly between the protagonists; The Driver and The Player, an early example of an attempt at neo-noir. Even though the car 'loses', I felt it deserved a better ending and, once again, it's one of those film car chases where there's a huge performance discrepancy between the chase and pursuit vehicles. An abridged version of the chase scene can be found here:

And the jacket is of course, from Drive, the 2011 film of a similar subject. Worn by The Driver, played by Ryan Gosling, it's a pretty symbolic part of the plot and character. The two films, whilst not technically related, are definitely related by nature; the filmography, mood, lack of dialogue, shock violence and slow-burn plot are all shared between the two of them.
Both of the films are well worth looking at if you haven't seen them!
