Yeah, poor Beck. I put my money on Mighty No.9. :/
This is what I drew about, a little while ago: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19894545/
VERY relevant.

I think most people's complaints about the trailer break down into two areas. One, the game doesn't look great, despite the massive amount of time out into it, especially the flame effects that most people feel look like a slice of pepperoni pizza. The second one, and i think this is the bigger reason why people got angry, is how the trailer dipped into old and tired stereotypes about anime fans being losers who can't get dates in order to advertise how cool the game was. There's a lot of reasons why this is dumb, but I think the biggest reason is that when most of the people who are going to be buying your game are probably anime fans, actively insulting them and calling them losers is not a way to win them over. Plus, it's a very outdated joke. It feels like it's from the nineties when anime was really getting going, rather than nowadays where a lot of people like anime and many western and European shows are inspired by anime.
I thought the outdated-ness of the trailer was intended. I mean they were one step away from saying that the game was totally gnarly and the combos were radical.
Not that it makes the trailer better, but ultimately I didn't give any money to it so it all just makes me shrug too.

Pretty much where I am. The trailer was def cringeworthy to me, but I'm mostly upset at the cheese pizza explosion graphics. Clearly the 3 million didn't go very far in comparison to a game like indivisible who has around 3.5m and already looks beautiful and has a fun gameplay concept.
Not saying mighty number 9. doesn't look fun, the presentation and graphics were just god awful.
I still think I'll def have fun playing it or watching it.
or at least I hope.

It's a shame, because the game itself doesn't look bad by any means. The problem is, first that it was never going to live up to the initial hype, second, that they took too long to develop the game, third, the marketing and press management after the kickstarter was HORRIBLE.
I kinda feel like they would've been better suited getting the game out fast for just a few platforms, then adding in more features, getting it to all the other platforms, etc.

just cuz they havnt said any thing dosnt mean they arnt thinking about it, which is probably the better move to make on all of their parts. I remember when i saw a comic book cover for the new "Sonic Boom" comic and on the cover it said "based on the hit not video game and TV show" and we all know how that turned out.
ether way I'm still looking forward to playing the game, i backed it and I will try and give an honest review when I do finally play the finished version. I wasn't trying to change your mind i was just sharing my 2 cents, if you dont wanna play it then more power to ya ^-^

I wonder if maybe half of the 3.4 milly that was raised actually went to the potential animated series pitch?
What a PR disaster that trailer was... I don't think I've ever seen something so bad... And that's including those godawful Quiznos commercials.
The anime fan joke actually made me chuckle and I think a lot of people overreacted to it, but still, it doesn't look like a 3.4 million dollar game... But then again, I'm not too savvy on how much money goes into indy games these days.

im sure all the money went into the game its self (with the exception of Kickstarters cut), i have said this before but they have to divide that money up into different sections so some thing take a hit, like voice acting, graphics, music, game play ect ect. there is also the rumor going around that the game cool look better ascetically if it didn't have to run on out dated hardware and all versions have to look like those versions.
