Sun Goddess Okami Amaterasu (Ammy), slayer of the Dark Lord Yami and savior of the land of Nippon, has been targeted. Life was normal in the Celestial Plane for the goddess until she suddenly found herself summoned to a strange, new world unlike anything she's ever seen. Before she could even piece together everything that's happening, those responsible for her summoning bared down with hungry jaws to devour the goddess alive. So began Ammy's most perilous quest yet that plunged her into a world filled with demons looking to be the first to devour her. Will Ammy ever find her way back home? Or will she be taking up permanent residence inside a demon's stomach?

Well, main reason I'm even playing it is cause he pressured me into accepting a bet to beat the game. I lose if I get a game over.
What scares me is that I have virtually zero knowledge of the game, so... well, I think I've screwed myself.
As for the game itself, I am actually enjoying it thus far. There are few games that terrify me & get me all tensed up... & leave me satisfied upon victory.

Even the very first boss is basically a beginner's trap because he's virtually impossible to defeat before hitting Level 3, and you're likely to only be Level 2 when you reach him. Meaning grinding that you'll only know to do after having first pressed onward, and lost. Unless you just simply decide to grind without any foresight whatsoever, just for the heck of it.
The player is supposed to fall for it. It's there to make an early statement to the player that clearing the game will require the occasional grinding. No player is meant to beat that boss on their first try, meaning a bet like that is just as much a trap as it is. It's basically a mandatory game over, unless you've played the game before to know it's coming.
There will be things like that as well. While they're not in the current demo, I've thus far put together two multiple choice sequences (one of which is basically a total guessing game) where wrong answers can result in a game over. There's also an instant death that triggers (story-related) if you try sailing to a specific area before you're prepared. And that's all still before reaching the second Deemer of five that the game focuses around defeating. Not to mention later on, character customization will start playing a larger role, with some bosses likely being near unbeatable without either major grinding, a lot of luck, or equipping just the right skills to exploit weaknesses to elements and status effects.
The game simply isn't designed to be beaten without failure. It expects the player to get a game over every now in order to learn from their mistakes, and do better next time.
