Lollipups are very special, intelligent mammals, with strong and graceful bodies. They move like canines or deer, depending on their appendages, are covered in fur (never scales), and their tails have a thick circular end.

General

Lollipups are mammals with deer like qualities. Height ranges from 2-4 ft at shoulder (the femmes tend to be smaller)
They're temperament ranges from pup to pup, but they wouldn't make good pets or domesticated animals. They're bright creatures and need lots of space and are wary of outsiders (different species). They may warm up to others if treated as equals.
Lollipups are primarily omnivores, but some have a preference for meat and others vegetation/fruit. Despite their teeth they don't hunt game really. They'll snap at smaller animals such as birds or fish, but nothing bigger. Some appear to have saber like teeth.
The ones with paws have retractable claws, but they don't seem to be useful in fights for they don't do much damage.
It's unsure how they attract mates. At first it was believed they were all one gender, but observes later noted that they simply vary in attraction. F/F and M/M and F/M. Some pups seem to posses being able to be fluid in gender and some seem to lack it.
Their fur is usually dark and doesn't seem to relate to their gender or sexuality. The markings range, but their fur seems to always be darker shades.
Their tail is their distinctive feature and where their name originates from. Often neon with designs ranging from intricate to simple. This seems to be how all pups attract mates. At first it was speculated that they also did battle with their tails as some had cracks and some chipped. This is still unproven for the ones with chips and cracks seem to be just as attractive to others as "perfect" tails.
Some of these creatures appear to have crystals growing from their bodies. The cause and purpose of this trait is unknown, but appears to be extremely rare.

NEVER ALLOWED

Lollipups never have short tails. They also never have "fluffy" tails. Their tails may have some extra fur but are still pretty slim.
Lollipups are convered in fur with some having extra fluff. They are NEVER full fluff.
Lollipups NEVER have wings or horns etc. The only types of "horns" they may have is if crystals grow on their head and that is VERY RARE, more so than body crystals.

Communication

Lollipups can often be heard making high pitched "whines". This appears to be their normal communication noise.
When threatened they will open their mouths, showing their teeth, and make a growling sound from their chest/throat. If this doesn't work they will often rear up on their hind legs and land hard on the ground and stomp, scrape their paws/hooves on the ground. They will often swivel their ears and have them lay back.
A long distance call that resembles a howl may be heard. It's unclear if this is to call to others or to warn others to stay away.
