February 21, 2009, my friend Arrowroot invited me to come with her to a fur meet along with her boyfriend so she could meet with commissioners and give them the badges she made for them in person. I'm not very big in furries but I do like drawing animal characters and thought it would be a neat idea to go and make contacts, show my work for future business. When we got there we were all a little nervous. We're not exactly used to a lot of men wearing fur suits or other attire hanging around and playing video games. XD But within the first hour we were welcomed and found a comfortable spot where we could do artwork and homework (in Arrow's case). We left out our sketchbooks and Arrow's portfolio for people to take a gander through them and I had some left over prints that I tried to sell. I also wrote that I would do on the spot one character inked commissions for $15, not really thinking that I would actually get a whole lot of commissions...maybe one at most. Well, I did get one....and as the day progressed I had a line up of people waiting to commission me to draw their characters. :D I made a lot of money in one day and I was really surprised, happy, and grateful, especially to those who gave me an extra tip! I still have three commissions to get done still and mailed out with the help of Arrow and I'm expecting to get some emails from people and another possible logo design job. I'm really glad I went, I have to show my appreciation and thanks to Arrowroot and her boyfriend for inviting me to come along. :D I sort of look forward to going to something similar of a meet again and hopefully I'll have more business cards at the time. Unfortunately I forgot to get the names of the people who commissioned me but I will say that none of these characters belong to me, they belong to their respected owners. I just made the art. :D OH!
