"we are the shadows
we are the silence of the dawn
we are the wind that sounds like a song
we are the thing in the corner of your eye you just forgot
we are foxes"
poem and art by myself
This is actually very dear to me and I share this a bit nervous.
As I child I saw pictures like that with big cats and wolves and always wished for a fox version
but year after year I felt I was not good enough yet to draw this.
Now I had the bravery to do so.
It's a lot on how I feel about foxes and how dear those animals are to me.
And I hope some of you share my fascination for this mystic creatures.

This is absolutely fantastic. You do foxes a great justice. As a fox lover myself, they are my kin I swear X3, I often would think about the same exact thing you did: "Why aren't there any foxes? Just wolves, coyotes, and big cats." I think people's opinions of them have been tainted in some way so they don't think of them as mystical or very awesome beings. I bet a good lot of people don't know that there's a mystical tale with arctic foxes and the Aurora Borealis, or that silver foxes are the only fox species capable of climbing trees(at least documented.), or that foxes play a great role in Japanese culture and that they actually have a fox village filled with tons of foxes. I love everything about them and this is such a great picture.
Oh, my goodness. I had a very audible reaction within 2 seconds of glancing at the mere thumbnail of this. You pulled off the lighting so well. The composition is just so... spot on. Excellent value control and sense of form and just, man. You were completely right in deciding that you were ready to draw this.
