Here I was about to make a comment about it looking Stargatey and that was the point. The news they're going to reboot the series makes me wonder A) Why everything that is over 10-15 years old is being rebooted and redone, and B) whether it would be as popular as the original since the last series sputtered out after only 2 seasons.
I think that Roland Emmerich doesn't like the series that was build on the original movie and so he want to resume his concept by rebooting, as if to erase the existence of SG-1, Atlantis and Universe. Now that this series are finished since some years, R. Emmerich can recreate Stargate.
