Here's a view of the back of this Crosley, showing off the dual chassis. Yes, I'm missing a type 47 tube as well on this set and it looks like someone replaced the output transformer on the speaker sometime in the past. Notice how the speaker is mounted? It's like it was an afterthought on this radio! The bottom quarter of the speaker is actually blocked by the front of the cabinet and the speaker board almost hangs out the bottom. Makes me wonder if this design actually started out as a regular low-boy, only for Powell Crosley to see Philco or some other company add in their shortwave adapters to their radios and suddenly ordered one jammed into this design...
