Yeah... this took me a long time to get to (mainly because I knew how tricky this pic was gonna be and that at the time I started I was new to Sai). However, I finally finished my damn Star Wars pic of Vader vs Grievous for a friend of mine who which I play Yugioh with. Anyone remember the Venom, Nightcrawler, and Doom pic? Yeah... same deal with this pic. Only that I really procrastinated with this one. Anyways, I hope it came out okay (besides the scene really not making much sense ^^; ).

hmmm..... interesting. I wonder if there will be any takers to this argument you present. :3 but you very well could be right. The one weakness I see in grievous would be the lack of the force and possibly inexperience. However, he does prove to be rather a worthy adversary from the looks of it. rather nice to see one side with grievous this time around. :3
Not to mention, Grevious has incredible physical strength, and four arms. He's been shown to be able to use six lightsabers at once, due to his style of tossing them up in the air, he can have as many as four sabers in the air at a time, while using two, always rotating.
And if Grevious gets close enough to grapple Vader, it's all over.
Ever look at Grevious' feet? Sharp, cortosis fortified claws. One false move, Vader's life support powerplant is destroyed, and Grevious tosses him in the air with one leg, sheathes his sabers, and snaps Vader over his shoulders like a twig. To quote a Grevious bodyguard in the game:
"Your weak bones are no match for the unyielding might of steel."

Not to mention in his first aperens in star wars animated series he is nearly unstopeble, here see for yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIj7gIDFDe4
My best friend Matt told me the history behind Grievous:
His ship was destroyed by the Sith, initially. When he was rescued, he was told that the Jedi were the ones who shot him down. That's the only reason he joined the Separatists.
And dammit, now you're makin' me choose between my 2 favorite SW villains! (shakes fist)
Grievous and his frickin' bad-assed-ness, or Vader and his incredible mastery of the Force...
Excellent job, sir! Keep it up! (highfive)

Yeah I only saw two episodes and I was surprised at how the Grievous from the cartoon show is stronger and faster than the one in the movie.

Okay, I've read all the comments and many people bring good points to the table. Thing about Vader is, he really did have to rely heavily on the force to actually defeat or kill his opponents in battle. His saber form itself has changed from that of Anakins, the fast and ferocious to the slow but deliberate blows. If anyone has ever payed attention to his fighting style, he essentially tries to bash his opponent into submission with brute strength (enhanced by his cybernetics) and sheer weight. You can view Vader as a wrecking ball without the chain. When all else fails, his command of force choke (grip) can work on multiple people at once. Or, try avoiding hurled objects. He also retained the ability to throw his lightsaber, which really is a basic skill jedi learn. One of his greatest flaws is the lack of mobility and agility he had in his original form.
Now onto Grievous. Once a great Kaleesh Warlord, his body fared worse than Vader's. He barely had one arm left, just half of his torso, what remained of his head, and that was it. The cybernetics created for Grievous (life support system primarily) was actually a prototype technology that Vader later on recieved. Grievous, however, has repulsorlift technology in his legs, hence why he can jump so high and such a great distance in one leap, despite not having command of the force. Adding to that, Dooku (who was noted as one of the greatest swordsmen) personally trained Grievous in the most common forms of saber arts used by jedi and sith alike. Vaapad would've been excluded since it relies on drawing from mostly the dark side of the force. Mace Windu notably had mastery of that form, which could explain his 'aggression' in combat. So no, Windu is not some bitter person, that's just his saber style. Anyways, Grievous also had something many jedi and sith didn't: 4 arms. Now on average, Grievous would use no less than two lightsabers at any given point, which made him the most formidable dual-wielder in history.
In addition, his wrists could spin a full 360 degrees non-stop, and he really didn't tire. Atleast that's what I thought, and after watching the more recent Clone Wars series, it shows that he does get tired. This is due to the crushed chest injury, and his already damaged lungs are struggling to keep up with his constant engagements with the jedi (and the Republic on the whole). It also didn't help that he had constant anger, so this is a guy who never was 'calm' in the sense of the word. He does however make up for that by entering battle, sabers spinning. This is a scare tactic, cause the eye can't see an opening. Jedi like Obiwan, and Kit Fisto could see (using the force) right through this tactic, which is one of the reasons they survive against the General. He does have a tendency to split his arms and wield four lightsabers, which is most useful against multiple opponents. Against a single foe, it should spell doom, unless their mastery of the force and defensive style is way up there.
Now, unlike most saber combatants, Grievous has some unique feet. Cortosis laced talons which really could impale anyone, also his bulk allowed him to literally 'pounce' his enemies to death and crush them. He could grab someone by the head, slam them down, toss them, make a jerking motion and snap their neck. His feet were also like hands, and he could indeed use them in combat. His torso spun 360 degrees, and his shoulders were on a ball-like socket (same with his legs), so there was really no limit to his agility and flexibility.
Okay enough backstories let's get to this match. Vader versus Grievous, hm....
Well as mentioned above, in the video game for Episode III, it shows that Grievous can lock his talons into the ground so force pushing is irrelevant. His feet are also magnetized, so metal surfaces boost his grip. However, Mustafar is a volcanic planet, so if Vader can lead Grievous to the softer, dirt like soil on the lava river banks, Grievous loses that grip. At that point, Vader could indeed use the force and send Grievous into the lava. That's one outcome so far. Another possible one, Grievous could just use brutal tactics and rip/slash at Vader with his feet, or hands. If he lands a good enough blow to that helmet and it's knocked off, Vader would die from it. Slowly, as seen in Force Unleashed, Vader could survive to an extent without the helmet. This would mean drawing upon a very deep level of the dark side to keep himself alive long enough. Doing so would severely lower his stamina, and since the suit is wired to his body in such a way, the more he dies, his support system goes too. His exposed head is also at risk being grabbed by a foot from Grievous, and with just one squeeze, Vader could have his head crushed to death.
Vader does have force choke, but since Grievous is more machine than Kaleesh, this ability might not work so well. If vader directs it at Grievous' chest, well....I think Windu proved this before. The thing is, Vader uses the force in such a way that he does have to stand still and focus. Despite his command of the dark side, Vader wasn't like Sidious. He couldn't simply use any force power at will, there was a brief moment of focus, and his body would really have to cease excessive motion. Whereas, Grievous is ready to go in seconds, versus a man who can't physically fight in mere minutes or seconds. Lightsaber wise, Grievous is himself too strong to be battered into submission by Vaders' incoming blows. To my knowledge, Vader never faced an opponent with four lightsabers, and the closest thing was going against a ressurected Darth Maul. He had to resort to nearly killing himself in order to deal Maul the mortal wound.
Personally, I see Grievous coming out on top, because unlike Vader, his cybernetics enhanced his fighting prowess, not limited him. Vader will only have so many open windows to use the force, but like I said, if Grievous is on solid, metallic ground, knocking him over will be highly difficult. Also, Vader was a sith, and like Grievous was constantly angry. Anger at a certain point can really hinder a persons focus, and Vader never learned how to be less reckeless, and more strategic. Look at Sidious, only his overconfidence weakened him. Other than that, total focus and control over anything he did.
Sorry for such a lengthy post, but maybe my two cents (more like $100) will get people thinking.

I disagree.
Darth Vader could take on Yoda. See, after his duel with Obi-Wan, Anakin learned from his mistake. And with his Cybernetics, he learned to adapt. No lets be honest, the cybernetics were not a crushing blow, they were in the fact that because Sidious wanted to retain Vader as a lap dog to avoid a rebellion from him, he never taught Vader how to move past his cybernetics. Basically, with training Vader would have become just like Malgus with his cybernetics, but that was a skill Sidious did not teach Vader. That, and along with the fact sidious made sure the suit was uncomfortable as a life-long punishment for Vader's failure on Mustafar really would make you think this is a not fair fight.
Wrong.
Vader already knew his master was a prick who was not going to teach him anything, so he self taught himself. Vader has faced 7 Jedi at once, and killed every single one of them. He CONSTANTLY trains with his lightsaber, and could easily defend himself from Yoda's acrobatic fury attacks. Not only that but Vader is very skilled in both defensive and offensive attacks force-wise.
Greivous gets too close, and Vader would use force repel, and if greivous is stupid enough to not take the hit but just nail himself to the ground or not jump back, but instead remains stationary his upper body gets ripped off. Darth Vader has brought down PILLARS with the force. Darth Vader would use the force and the area to his advantage. As for the speed thing you brought up, Vader can use every force power for the most part except Lightening. Force Speed is a power Vader CAN use. Greivous only really fought Jedi who are defensive, but never an opponent who is extremely offensive. And Vader would over whelm him, so what if Grevious lands a lucky strike? Vader's suit doses him up on constant pain meds Bane Style, he wouldn't even feel it. And would just use the force to keep him alive.
Greivous is just another droid.
