Tonight, we had the unfortunate decision to put Tahoe to sleep. A couple days ago she began acting very weak and was in the vet for two days on an IV. She was bleeding excessively from her liver, and her body wasn't healing itself. Just last week, she caught us a bird like the huntress she was.
I started crying when she was purring for us...
I was petting her until she was gone.
She was 16, and lived a good life.
A very special girl who knew how to make you know her.

*hugs you tightly* I can't even begin to imagine how much that sucks.... I was and still am a bit heartbroken over my kitty escaping my grams house and never being seen again :( I'm sure he's gone by now though.... I don't know how much it sucks to actually be there when they go, I would probably have ended up picking my buddy up and holding him until he was gone, if it came down to something like that :(
I had my last cat Foster put to sleep at 8.50am on the 30th of October 2004. He, like Tahoe, was also 16 and was suffering from kidney failure. I chose him from a litter
of kittens when i was five years old. Needless to say i was in pieces and took a long time to recover, but my dad... i had never seen a man so broken :'( My dad used to
fall asleep on the sofa and Foster would cuddle into him and fall asleep too :) When you love a pet so dearly, it is the hardest decision to make, but it's the right decision
to make when they are in pain and there's no hope of recovery. The one thing that got me through was the fact that he was loved and he had a good, long and happy life.
This is what you need to focus on, and i'm sure you are. **big hugs**

I wanted to ay that I'm sorry for your loss. I know that the loss of a pet can be like losing a member of the family. I'm just glad she was able to be at peace, didn't suffer and you saw her off and shared her last moments. It's really all you can ask for in that regard.
I can still remember when we had to get Mattei put down. The last thing she did was got up and licked me on the face and bruxed in my ear. I still miss her but in the time since it's gotten easier to focus on all the good times and funny things she did. That will come in time for you too.
