In some stories, the newly risen phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis. The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded, thus being essentially immortal and invincible. It is also said that it can heal a person with a tear from its eyes and make them temporarily immune to death.
So I just had to do a companion piece to Celestial Flame. This anthro phoenix is based on a swan. My scanner totally chewed up the reds, and I had to frig around with PS to get it looking right. There's a crystal on the tail feather and I've used gold paint, so it shimmers.
I can get on with commissions now! :)
