Something I'd been meaning to draw for some time, if mostly for being inundated with both Monster Boy and Dragon's Trap Remake media in the past few weeks.
Although series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa confirmed and canonize that the garment worn by Monster Land's hero was indeed an absorbent garment for the beginning of his journey, there was no further mention of it again even into it's immediate story-sequel Dragon's Trap. I have toyed with the idea that it would properly show up again after losing the Legendary Armor between games, but ultimately no imagery followed through with this (instead giving the newly endowed Lizard Man form a set of Ivory equipment). Still, I doubt a diaper would absorb as much damage as it would other things. Maybe at least giving a good Charm bonus to compensate.
As an aside I found the Charm system from the game an interesting method to prevent players from grinding for the more powerful equipment in the game, although I don't blame further ports from dumping the system altogether (and I doubt the new remake out next year will make use of the system either).
I also doubt that despite Nishizawa's enthusiasm of this aspect of Broke's design I doubt we'll see much padding in either of the aforementioned games, but maybe we'll see if it get snuck in there as an easter egg somewhere.
