aww! he is so precious! Gosh he loves his momma's, doesn't want them to be mad at him <3
That is so sweet, in just a single moment, he seems to have distracted her enough to maybe have a second thought about leaving! and that picture is so pretty hehe, it looks just like her!
she doesn't seem to mind that he is essentially a big baby, does she know what the job would consist of beforehand?

If people think it's over because someone didn't give in to a ridiculous situation then they don't deserve to see the rest.
That's a harsh opinion but come on. I'm glad to see a perspective in an AB/DL setting where a character thrown into a forced situation, (as in after things were being thrown onto her, not her actively seeing employment here) completely opposes what is going on and decides to leave.
But there was plenty of room for things to further develop and this cute follow up shows one of those options. I appreciate you for your genius Star, and I hope you don't dumb things down in the future.

I agree and second your statement, rushed and forced storylines in any scenario where the "everyday average protagonist" just goes full "s-senpai!" in a bizarre fantasy having no notion of interest beforehand is just silly. The way the comic's going is decently 'real' (as real as such a scenario can get) and I too appreciate this kind of story pacing.
I was pretty sure Varden was going to stop Saffy on her way out, but not exactly that way. Doesn't matter how, it happened.
Now, I don't know a whole lot about Varden, others here seem to know more about him than I do, so the character must be other places. He certainly seems to be the quintessential 'BIG Baby', more regressed than I expected.
Saffy hasn't noticed how Varden is dressed, or anything like that, I'm pretty sure. Her comments about 'Are YOU okay?' shows she's more focused on his crying and his response to her running into him.
Of course, Varden has, and I don't know if it was inadvertently or not, hit one of Saffy's biggest buttons. Home. The questions we need to be asking are why is Saffy running, what is she running from, why is she 'sleeping rough', whatever that means (is it a British term that Americans don't understand?). Varden's card, whether by chance or gained knowledge of Saffy's background, is the key to her staying.
Welcome Home, Saffy!

Welcome Home, Saffy!
This is what I thought, but Saffy certainly doesn't appear to be homeless. Most people who live out on the streets, at least here, IRL, are disheveled, poorly dressed, not clean from no bath or showers, etc. There are, of course, homeless shelters, but they are temporary at best.
So, all the better for Saffy that's she's found 'Home' and Varden has made a compelling reason for her to at least listen to what Jo has to say.

Angel, I'm glad you're not homeless any more, and I hope that your life is improving. There are, as I said, shelters and stuff for people to stay in, or use to keep clean and such, and people do use them, but, and maybe this is me being uninformed, I usually consider 'homeless' to be living ON the streets. Here in the Seattle area, there are encampments where homeless people have tents, and such, are are 'camping.' In fact, Seattle City Council wants to pass a law that will allow people to 'camp' anywhere on public property in Seattle. But, this is the result of a Nanny State approach. This is how I see things, though. Thankfully, I'm not there.
The YMCA is normally willing to let you use their showers if your homeless (as long as your not rude about it) and there are normally places and ways to clean up your clothes even if you was on the streets/camping (here in Lincoln one of the soup kitchens offers both shower and laundry services)
You worry too much I have no idea who you are talking about but if someone tells me stuff I tend to go find out both sides of the story before anything. This was me just trying to make my submission readable to those who were having to scroll across to find the submission
I like in the second to last panel how both Varden and Saffy are blushing. The panel before, you can see Varden may have a bit of blush, but Saffy doesn't, then when Varden gives her the present, she starts to blush. I'm not sure exactly what that tells us about Saffy, but I get the feeling she's really a softy down deep inside. She has a tough exterior, which I'm thinking she needs to survive, but her inner self is sweet, warm and caring.
I don't know what this story will bring, but I'm hoping that in the next page, she looks at Varden, and sees him fully, but at the end, gives him a HUGE hug. I get a feeling that's what she really is.

I'm conflicted by feels, the gift Varden give her and look on his face would make most people feel like a major douche to say "I'm quitting" on the other hand given Saffy already experienced a way screwed up start to the job only to add the borderline assault and manhandling which could easily result in a lawsuit as well as police being involved I can't help but blame her essentially flipping the proverbial bird and walking out, hopefully Cleo learns not to just spank someone like that out of the blue after that incident, ideally Jo will set Cleo straight in the ideal scenario to know what boundaries are.
Still regardless of my personal irks as to how the scenario played out as usual your comics are top quality, though I rather like the Shine series.
