Artist edition next :DDDDDDDDDDDDD
I wanted to draw some twisted asshole expressions xD
The random wolf who represents no one takes another appearance! (I just noticed I haven't posted the first one he was in)
----
I almost forgot to mention, if you're an artist struggling with this kind of customers: put your prices up, it's a magical way to repel them. Honestly I haven't had this issue too many times, now ever rarer but I'm sure there's still some crazies out there and after the inexperienced artists they can pressure and make overwork with their manipulative ways. And most of all don't let them discourage you from doing new commission work, most customers here in the fandom are wonderful and nice people c:

(lol tuli typo nii korjasin!!)

Just decline them, in most cases this kind of people are already known for their bad behavior and their words about you wont be effective!
One of the ppl like this who commissioned me tried to spread ill words about me eventhough I accepted their work and they seemed to be pretty happy about it even... somehow.

(loads shotgun)
...oh wait... X3
Seriously, though; entitlement much? As a commissioner; I do my damnedest NOT to be this guy XD Sure, for the most part I end up waiting; but the end product has always been totally worth it and then some X3 My motto is pretty much "Don't throw stress around like an arsehole." X3

Aww >////< Thank you ^^
Because art is so subjective, and each artist has their own style/talent; they usually already have a hard time with over-criticizing their own stuff and comparing themselves to others; throwing something like "Well, so-and-so is harder/better/faster/stronger" in their face is just cruel. It's also extremely demeaning... (shudder) mrrf... (wants to strangle the idea of this guy SO MUCH >.<)

Yeah...I hear you on that. I always maintain patience with any artist, especially if I know that they're going through problems with work, relationships, housing, etc. I just like to think that most commissioners don't mean to pressure the artists with their comments, but yeah, it still happens. :(
What's your opinion on artists who just don't finish the picture you've commissioned? I got one who every time I ask he's had some new development with his bad health that's prevented him from being able to focus on commissions (or only the ones that aren't sketches apparently), and another artist who vanished entirely owing lots of folks their artwork.
Well if the story is as bad as you say they'll equally shit as this nightmare customer is. It's always good to first follow someone for a bit until you commission them - that and check Artists_Beware if theres an entry on the person you're about to commission. The later you mentioned isn't really an artist anymore, sounds more like a scam (or maybe a bad accident happened).
Yeah. I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt, just in case I'm the one being unreasonable and I don't realize it. But yeah, when you've been waiting years for some work they're supposed to be doing for you, have completed several other peoples' projects in that time, and have nothing to give you, OR when they disappear while you're waiting for them to finish something, pop onto a instant messenger or social site for like a minute and you try to speak to them, and they just poof again, it doesn't really build up good character in my eyes. :T
I'm not someone who offers commissions, but working in customer support, I get the worst kind of people at times. Some seem to just have forgotten how to be a decent human being as soon as money is involved in anything. Spoiler: Being nice gets you better and more service.
I tend to have problematic clients of the opposite kind.
Extremely patient and Never complains...even when i made a mistake.
Don't get me wrong, it's better than the nightmare client portrayed here, but i like being pushed a little. If i make a mistake i want to know so i can correct and improve and yeah sometimes i need someone telling me to get the F to work to get some fire in the engine. Clients that are obnoxious are bad, but Clients that are extremely passive ain't the best for a aspiring artist either! ^^;
Don't be afraid to go up to a artist and politely ask for alterations or just being honest if it's not what you hoped for. Just NEVER be a (passive)-aggresive d-bag as the random wolf who represents no one and have atleast some patience!

I once had a client who acted like this wolf in the middle frame - they were "ok" with the sketch (they wrote in a passive aggressive way, but I didn't think it was anything at first since they said it was okay) and all and never asked for edits or complained during the progress. Then afterwards they started complaining about me in their personal account to all their followers instead "colours were wrong" "they had to fix some mistakes themselves" (I dont even allow alterations! it's against my TOS) and it was all over very small things I wouldn't have even charged extra for changing 8I
So yea, it's always better to speak up your mind. But I think this client did what they did in purpose... since it's what they seemed to do to everyone when I took a closer look.

Oh i'm pretty sure they did it on purpose.
Such behaviour tends to stem from a form of insecurity. They can't art so they get art, but at the same time feel this need to openly nitpick apart the gained art to make themselves feel better. They actually go and get Art just so they can complain about it as a form of feeling superior by making others seem inferior to compensate for their own inadequacies. Humans are weird...

I'm dealing with that right now. There are currently 30 messages in my notes spanning 20 days in trying to negotiate 2 images for a commissioner, spamming me with questions about extra details and features and going into content I'm not comfortable with. I had to put my foot down and say I've already made several exceptions for what they're paying, and I don't want to do more. I don't mind doing a little extra for someone at no cost, cuz I wanna make my commissioners happy, but there are some who just take full advantage. The sad thing is that I don't think the person I'm dealing with even realizes it's not good form to keep piling demands on, and I don't know how to tell them.
Getting commissions takes time and effort. You've joined FA only this year, It took me at least 3 years to have enough watchers to have any potential commissioners - and even more years to have regular commissions. And then having a glance through your gallery - you draw well but you portray your pieces very poorly. Traditional art is difficult to present, it requires good equipment (good scanner is cheaper than good enough camera) and some digital editing skills because no matter how good equipment the piece will need touch ups to match the original. And then also the best place to sell traditional work is real life, such as conventions - because seeing the original is a much bigger impact to people.
This is my second account, my old one was much older but hated the name so I made this one; I've hardly gotten more than a few commissions in 3 years let alone regular commissions. I had a dA but left it because its a dead site and never got hardly even comments there so there was no use in putting my commissions up again.
I'm holding emergency commissions so I can get a scanner and a computer because I currently use my phone for everything, I understand money is hard to come by which is why I'm trying to be patient but I need the money for clothes and meds as well; I don't want this message to make me sound desperate but those are my actual reasons so I won't lie about them especially to another artist who I'm sure has had the same issue at least once before

I used to take clean story commissions, and most people were really happy with what I wrote. But one person would send me these epic-length lists of changes I needed to make, down to little symbolic details. It took me forever to finish their story because of all the extra work.
They sent extra pay when I pointed this out. But then a few months later I wrote a very personal story that dealt with depression and suicide, and they demanded I pull down the story I wrote for them because they didn't want it associated with this one. Then a week or so later they changed their mind, because they finally read it and decided it was okay.
My nightmare client kept coming back. ^^;;
