Ageaus presented us folks on Patreon with a trip through a haunted mansion this month.

You avoided the bulk of the mansion, hoping that cutting through the chapel would have provided the shortcut you sought. The eerie chapel was physically as empty as the rest of the mansion, and you made your way to the winding steps at the rear of the desecrated Church. The stairs led upward, the bell tower, and to a damaged door leading to the outside, you took the door.

Outside now, you could see your escape. A path runs on top of the gabled roof leading away from the bell tower. The service path is treacherous; stones from the path have fallen into exposed rooms below. It terminates at a small stair over the main entryway, where you can see trellised vines leading down, and hopefully out of the treacherous mansion.

There you find two gargoyles, and an empty plinth in between them, where the vines seemed to grow from. You climb the pedestal, hoping to reach the vines to climb down to the front. However, you don’t get that far. As soon as you set foot on the plinth, the vines wither, and drop from the room, to the ground erasing your path to freedom.

Tying to come up with a new plan, you try to climb off the back of the pedestal and try another way. You never get the chance. A strange icy feeling crawls its way from your toes to your head. Your legs have become sluggish, and heavy, the same feeling sweeps through out your body. You see your legs turning to stone, and your body follows suit.

Unseen forces descend upon you sculpting wings, and claws out of your human form - reshaping you into a beast. An animate stone beast. With a strike of an imaginary chisel, the stone falls away, you have become the GARGOYLE.
