Well, when logic does not work... superstition does?
Sort of... little children will be affraid of the dark even when reassured nothing dangereous is in the darkness. You fear what you do not understand, and the concept of Lightning and thunder are something Draghi can'tquite comprehand, and it doesn't happen ofthen enough for him to become acoustomed to it. So he is scared.
It feels kind of bad enforcing and validating his fear, but is it worth it if it offers peace of mind?

Dirty dragon! This method, however dubious in the light of child rearing, works best with kids who are already verbal (like Draghi). It seems to help with dogs, too, to the degree that a reassuring voice helps to alleviate the fear. I could probably recite tax law or FORTRAN code, and it would have the same effect.
