I wonder if this might be Rusty's first voyage on a longship and so he's just naturally feeling excited about it and just waving to his fellow Vikings on another longship close by. That dagger does look a little small in his hand so hopefully he won't end up dropping it if the ship gets rocked by a wave as I could see him ending up with it catching his foot, given the position. Though seeing your avatar and considering Rusty's size in comparison to Walter's, I wonder if the dagger is actually the sword wielding by Walter when striking his own pose.
The dragon head prow would be fearsome but it's rather amusing that it looks rather annoyed with Rusty's antics, and also amusing that Walter's helmet has much longer horns in comparison to Rusty's. Hopefully he wouldn't be tempted to give Rusty an 'accidental' poke with them to tell him to stop being silly as that would be unkind.
