"Close" only counts in horseshoes and weapons with a blast radius.
I guess I'm back to my normal schedule of submitting these things after everyone else is already done. Oh well.
This is another chapter of the Verus storyline, inspired bythe latest a recent an old Thursday Prompt, missing.
At this point, I've pretty much retconned half the initial chapter, but the other two should be fine.
And, to confuse people further, this takes place right at the start of the adventure, before Albright has assumed command of the team. Blair was the original founder, but she will pass leadership on to Albright after a certain incident.

Nice. I really liked this. As I have been in a military, I can somewhat relate. It was hard to learn keep eyes open while firing. Not before pulling the trigger, but when the gun shoot. I couldn't help blinking. But it got easier with time. I don't know how much noise and recoil that Septan gun makes, but maybe he should try firing a LAW. Maybe the Septan gun feels a lot smaller after that.
Anyway, looks nice. I have read quite a few of these steampunk/fantasy stories of yours, all of them as Thursday Prompt responses, but still. And they are still charming. You build your fictive world well. These are entertaining. I enjoyed reading this. Good work.
