A commission I've been working on this week. Thought folks might like to see some of the process. The sketch on the left is the first sketch ie the rough. At this point I'm just working out the composition and how the element fits together. The rough is based on the commissioners description. It is sent off to him and he comments what does and doesn't wok for him. All things can be changed or switched around at this point. This is done in my sketchbook. The sketch on the right is the refined sketch I did taking into consideration comments from the commissioner. This is done on illustration board. Also sent off to the buyer for comments and tweaking. The rough is 8 1/2x11 in a sketch book. the refined 114 on illustration board.
