Oh, definitely. His upbringing shows very clearly and I'm sure it's going to continue to cause minor to major problems within the story, but it's a great conflict to watch!

He also looks like he's bit of a shorty. considering that squid faced guy looked like he was about 6 to 7 feet tall. Battu might only stand 2 feet at most.

The kid just needs to explain that there is no love in his family of battle-hungry warmongers. People like him never explain themselves (yes, this is kind of a trope) and are thought to be whiners...until stuff goes down that gives people a firsthand look at how dirty the family is.
