Welcome to Frappuchinos! Now Serving: Lingering Doubts
"You've been quiet ever since you got here, Art," Venti said as they relaxed in bed together, the covers drawn up to cover their legs. "What's wrong?"
Art didn't say anything at first, but finally he sighed. "Remember that day I came to the library to go to lunch with you?"
Venti nodded. "I had a sub sandwich. It was pretty good!"
"I actually was in their a few minutes earlier, and overheard that kangaroo flirting with you."
"Kangaroo? Oh, that kid? Alright, so what?"
"I...well...had a moment of doubt. I almost thought you were going to..." His voice trailed off; he couldn't find the words to describe how he felt about the matter.
"Going to what?" Venti's tone was calm, almost gentle. "Did you actually think I was going to let some twenty year old sweep me off my feet?" He placed a hand on Art's chest, rubbing circles around the fur. "Come on, Art. You know me better than that."
Yes, thought Art, but I also wonder how long it'll take before you try to sabotage our relationship because you don't believe you deserve to be happy. Had he seen any evidence of the sort lately, however? No, life had had its ups and downs, but things were good. "I know, Venti, but sometimes we have a way of subconsciously blowing things out of proportion." He took Venti's large hand, kissing the knuckles.
"You worry too much sometimes, Art, but that's just one of the reasons I love you." Venti drew closer to the lion, pinning him lightly against the mattress.
"You love me for my flaws?"
"I love you for your strengths, and overlook your flaws." Venti lifted up Art's muzzle, then kissed his lips, which slowly turned into a more lingering one. Art felt his body responding to the affectionate gesture, and as his hands roamed along Venti's obliques, he felt a certain part of Venti's anatomy stir. "Heh," Venti said. "I think you just started something."
Art couldn't help but smile up at his boyfriend. Funny how a year ago he would have laughed at the thought of dating Venti. "I love you, Venti."
"The feeling is completely mutual, lion."

People who are intelligent are usually plagued with worry and disturbing hyperboles. Because we think too much, and it kills us.
This is a very tender segment, and I like how you're not making this into a pornography flick by romancing it up all the time. The romance feels important now, and I as the observer really appreciate it more when it's not littered in the story all the time.
Substantial =].
