Emus, being birds of the arid woodlands, deserts and plains, do surprisingly well in our rather brutal Minnesota winters.
They do, however, hate ice and spent a good portion of the last few months being pretty sure the earth itself had betrayed them.

Our first snow day was just a dusting, so they looked at it but didn't really care. The first heavy snow we got they kept holding their feet up and looking confused, like what are we stepping in? Ugh!
We got ours from a farm even further north where the weather is even colder - I was surprised they could do ok in our extreme cold, too! They have learned to hide in the barn when it's really bad, finally.
