As Vancouver crawled into early February, glimmers of hope could be seen throughout the city. The downtown skyline now a sight of scaffolding and construction cranes, while various helicopters roamed the skies. Perhaps the brightest scenes could be found at the two major UN relief centers in the area, one positioned inside the city's major BC Place stadium and the other resting by the Olympic Torch near the damaged Bureau of Superheroes structure.
It was at these places that various relief efforts were conducted by a mixture of civilian personnel, Canadian Apex Units and Bureau agents currently stationed in the region. Among them, Lionheart, who had been helping clear damaged areas of the city and happily assisting the children in having smiles put on their faces.
Partnered with fellow Bureau agent Halifax for the day, the two of them worked on various games and other festivities for the kids. Even going so far as getting Lionheart to toss special containers into the sky, packed tightly with chemicals while Halifax fired off explosions from his fingers at them. The sky was lit up with all sorts of colors and patterns for the children to enjoy.
The two Bureau agents found themselves locked together in their work, even the occasional villain that challenged the recovering city and slowly beginning to build back the people's trust in the Bureau of Superheroes once more. However as the days began to approach Valentine's Day, Halifax began to think of the time that he had been spending with Lionheart and how the heroine had consoled him not long after her temporary transfer to the region. She had indeed provided him with an emotional therapy he had not been able to find elsewhere since the devastating Christmas, and each day the memories of the injuries he sustained hurt a little less.
The air was chilly, but the city was still a light. Halifax wandered through the UN Relief camp at the Bureau base that late night, February the 13th. It wasn't his shift, but Lionheart was on the active duty roster soon to trade off with one of the other transfers that had come in to assist. Each second he looked for her, his thoughts race and his mind filled with anxiety, telling him to turn back but he carried on and when he found her, the clock ticked to midnight.
On Valentine's Day, Halifax found himself asking the famous Bureau Agent out on a date and all that day. Under the starry night sky, the two agents could be seen together, walking by the water, holding hands and enjoying the simple pleasures of each other's company and their milkshakes.
