You could replace rat with parrot, and pee on with destroy to get another common pet.

Ya, I have a rat and I can say... it really is true But rats are still one of most intelligent pets, they are very social, they will never run away or hide from you, in rat community they send one rat first to taste food if it is not poisoned etc. And then pee on it
