Venti stared at the work schedule for the next two weeks, his mouth gone dry at how many hours he was getting, or, to be more precise, the lack of them. No hours for the upcoming week or the week thereafter. The management was reducing the staff to a skeleton crew, with only one person handling each shift. There were barely any hours for the midshift.
It seemed their policy of having two people working the register and coffee bar was slowly becoming a thing of the past. Damned economy, thought Venti. If it weren't for his work at the library, and the upcoming payment from the photoshoot, the jackal would be on the streets.
He put on his apron, loathing the feeling of helplessness. It weighed down the pit of his stomach like an undigested piece of spaghetti, or worse, a piece of tofu. He hated tofu. He hated this situation. What could he do, though? Quit? Not a chance, not until they let him go or he found something better. Though in the current economic state, he doubted he'd find anything better.
Pathetic. Utterly pathetic.
He moved slowly behind the coffee bar, running a fingertip along the chrome of the espresso machine, the cool metal bringing back the memory of seeing the machine for the first time. It looked impossibly simple to operate, and it was, though it took a few practice runs to understand the way it worked. He'd miss the hiss of the steam wand, the way it would make the milk bubble and froth. The ten second life of the espresso shots if they weren't placed in the milk quickly enough.
His reminiscing was cut short by Art's voice. "Venti?"
"Art?" The lion looked nervous, his tail twitching behind him as if bothered by flies. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong, but I need your advice. Can we talk during your lunch break?"
Venti had almost expected the lion to say those dreaded words "I'm having second thoughts". The last time he'd heard them, Damon had left him. "I'll be on break in about two hours."
Venti didn't return to his melancholy for the rest of his shift. Art needed him more.

Muscles in eyelids? Nah.
Try frowning your forehead (join the eyebrows) then kinda smirkily half close your eyes. A slight crease should appear near the middle of your eyelid (imstead of a single curve, the eyelid gets composed of two). At least that's what my eyes do.
Overexaggerated it, though (along with everything else ;)).

I don't see this as a twist. I see it as a sequential series of events, which in retrospect to Venti is going to turn out to be something worse in his mind than what it is. Yet he is still partially right. Venti is going to try to avoid Art, because he knows, fears what may come, that his lover's feelings will stray, and he'll be left with no one, as a part of his life community pulls him apart.
My main concern is Frappuchinos, the way it's running, the way it's changing to their current situations which is easily related to our times. Such a key meeting place, going down, and seeing it suffer makes me concerned, because it may be a metaphor of how it's going down between the characters.
But, Venti will understand the change Art seeks, and I think if anything, they'll both move for it, much like how Venti is changing as well.
My main deal is to think of how Art is going to change his ethos, his image, mannerisms or habits. What he wants to see in himself.
