No, it wasn't a trap. Star was told what to do, but she wanted to be like the bigger babies, and do her own thing. She walked into something that she has no clue about, thinking it would be all well and good, but in fact, Manda knows exactly what is going on, and told her what she needs to do.
Any good parent will let a child do something they THINK they want to, as long as it doesn't hurt them, to teach babies that they don't always know what's going on.
I can remember a few instances of that from my own childhood!

Have you not read Found? That's her Toddlergirl account. It is a lot darker than this, and it often has people on the verge of tears. It is a truly amazing story. Click on Star's avatar to get to her profile page, and then click on Toddlergirl's icon, and then look for her Found story under the Gallery. You might also want to check out her CTN comic, which will be a little more adult oriented.
Star is so naive. Between Teca's earlier spanking, and some of the things Manda has said, you'd think that she would be a little wiser. Apparently not. Of course the bottle is spiked, you can tell that from Irie and Lure.
As to 'it's fun to pretend' I'm afraid Star is going to find out that Manda doesn't 'pretend' when she says she's going to do something. Unfortunately, it will be too late then.
If I may be so bold as to predict, Star will have an accident, and she will not ask Manda, Teca or any other adult for help getting changed, she will run off by herself in her embarrassment, thus earning her third strike, and a spanking, and most likely, a very thick diaper thereafter.
At some point, Martin will have to rescue her, and gently teach her the ways of being an AB in this community.

Manda told her that if she did it, it would be naughty. I also agree that Manda was trying to save her from what most likely will mean a soiled nappy, but you don't tell a one- or two-year-old, "No, that bottle has laxatives in it." They're too little to understand, Star has taken the role of a baby here, and is almost being treated as one. Does that help explain? =^.^=
Personally, I think Manda is not being very strict; I see her as being the babysitter who wants to be a friend more than a carer. If she's babysitting, she has a responsibility to set limits and enforce them, and that means that when baby is naughty, baby gets corrected right then and there. Three strikes over a whole afternoon? Babies have too short an attention span to do that at that age. (This is not in any way a criticism of our lovely and talented writer and artist's story- she's written her characters and is "playing" them just as they are- nor is it a criticism of sweetmanda whose character is being thus used. It's only a comment on what the character is doing.) On the other handpaw, Manda knows that Star has just punished herself, though Star doesn't realize it yet.
It also would not surprise me if Manda, and by extension, Teca, knew that Star was still wearing the knickers everyone seems so fixated upon her soiling. Grownups often know things that little children aren't aware they know. Star isn't wearing the same clothes she wore to Manda and Lure's house, and Manda strikes me as keeping a very neat house. When Star undressed to put on her nappy, would Manda have folded her clothes for her, so they'd be neat when she went to put them back on? If she did, there would have been an item conspicuously missing.
This also would fit with Manda telling her she had to ask before running off to the big-girl potty, and with Manda not encouraging her to use her nappy. I don't know any of this, but it's my guess, and it strikes me as just the kind of twist that my little niece might toss into a story... So I'm sorry if I've ruined the surprise, but we'll see when she draws it all out, I'm sure.

It will give the milk a slightly different feel, sort of like grit albiet it very fine.
However giving anyone randomly drugged bottles of milk would be incredibly dangerous.
Miralax for example could lead to severe bleeding or acute anaphylaxis with breathing difficulties.

The grittiness, however fine, is what I didn't know about, thank you. I'm not a fan of random druggings, although they do have a place in an RP/fantasy setting where no one can actually be hurt.
I do know that Miralax, given in normal doses as per the label, is safe even for chronological babies That's not to say you give a 4 month old 17grams, as per the label, but giving a half dose to a one year old or so is not unsafe as a one-time dose.

I think you're right, many people do have a hard limit there, but to be fair, Manda did tell her not to drink it. She just didn't tell her why. At Star's preferred age, "Because I said so" is reason enough. Star chose to be naughty with full (adult) knowledge that she was doing so. She just doesn't realize that she's just begun her own punishment by doing it. Hopefully for her sake, it wears off before she has to go back to the base on Monday morning!

It's an AB/DL party. While the new people won't know the code, there are some people who don't have a hard limit about pooping themselves, and actually enjoy doing so. Since new people normally aren't invited, I think I'd expect that those who vouch for you would normally tell you the color codes, so that you'd know to avoid. Star WAS told, indirectly, which bottle to take and thus, which ones not to take.
It's not definitely that way; I've not talked to Star about it, this is all just my guesswork, but it's not hard to make the logical leap that this is where the choice she made leads. If you work it out differently, that's fine, too, of course, not that you need my permission to think how you wish. It's Star's world, I'm sure she'll make it how she sees it. =^.^=

It strikes me, that if those bottles are spiked wif somefing...it would make sense that they have a colour coding system like they do for rooms. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the green lids made you need to use your diaper...and pink lids had nothing but milk in them? In that case, Mandy would have tried to give Star a 'safe' bottle...but she just haaaad to have green....Can't wait to see the outcome. Of course...may be lure and his friend were talking about the three strikes....but somehow I doubt it.
