skype is amazing

The parental units freaked last time they found me using Skype (even though it wasn't a furry convo), probably think it's some sort of phone thing or too personal to be talking to internet strangers or something. All I know is that I really, REALLY need to get out of this house. :F

Dad knows, he pokes fun at me for it. Mom...eh...slightly more complicated. Long story short, she's seen the CSI episode and that's her view of the fandom. If I were to ever tell her, I'd have to enlighten her as well, which (depending on her mood) may or may not be easy. :|

Yea...usually it's not too hard to hide my browsing habits, though, because Mom's so tech-inept (no offense to her, but it's a wonder she can turn her dinosaur computer on, send an email, and get it shut down again.

Your mom reminds me of a professor I had. Let's just say he was old enough he could tell stories about the pyramids when they were new. He had this really old PC that did not even have windows. It was setup so when he turned it on, it would automagically start a mail program. Once he was done with that, he would turn it off.

If you can afford, get one of those 8" laptops (I have seen them for under $200 refurb to $350 new), run some wireless, and lock yourself on your room.

My mom still freaks out if she finds out I go riding my motorcycle (I used to have it at a friend's house until I moved out) or diving, which is why I do not tell her about me chasing sharks (I got *this* close of grabbing one!) and going close enough to barracudas that they are between my mask and hands. Ignorance is a bliss...

Laptops are a Godsend, lemme tell ya. Sadly or not, I can pretty much tell when to hit minimize without having to pay that much attention.
