The quality and detail of this picture is just magnificent, and that wolf is stunning! I love how the eyes seem to have a lens effect from the cornea magnifying the iris a little bit. No wonder you're so busy as an artist, it's because everybody wants to get commissions that look this good!
For far too long, humans have thought of instincts as nothing more than reflex actions, rather than what they really are.
They tried to use fight or flight as a prime example, claiming that animals did it without conscious thought or control.
But they are wrong (especially if they still think instinct is just a reflex).
Reflex is an uncontrollable physical reaction to stimuli.
Instinct, is knowledge. Knowledge become second-nature.
Fight or flight is a prime example of this.
The leader of a herd, for example, engages in flight only when he is certain that his herd will get away safely.
If one of them cannot, he knows that he has to fight to save them. So his decision is based on the facts and the situation as it happens.
Anything you have done for a while becomes instinctive, automatic, second-nature. All animals know this.
