A sketch sheet of the simply titled "Mare" character from my conceptual story The Spirit and the Mare.
I changed her design just slightly for her official sheet. Warmed up her coat just a smidge (in the colored version of Maternal she was all-grey) and gave her somewhat primitive hooves with the extra toes. I never liked the idea of her ankle spikes just being bony spikes sticking out of her, so I changed them to being more raptor-like claws. It makes sense somewhat since they are predatory creatures still and might need something like it for holding down prey they couldn't knock out or grab in their jaws. Dunno man! :shrug:
This was an assignment for my Self-Publishing class.
