Hey guys, it's the last of the month and I wanted to go a little more simpler.
A Rose by any other name right?
Southern Draw Rose of Sharon:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sun Grown Connecticut
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Pre-Light/Construction:
The wrapper itself looked as though you uncovered it from a cellar of goodies and treat. From the head to foot, there was a subtle and gentle look to it. Very firm and smooth to the touch. A very pleasing feel for a box press. The regualr SD band was present along with a little pink Rose of Sharon to give it a nice touch. Very sweet honestly. Seems and Veins were present, but not too distracting. LEt's get to it!
The Burn Part 1:
The draw is very nice and vibrant with smoke. Some light black pepper starts out and a bit of cream began the flavor profile. I still love a good and simple Sweet and Spicy Combo. This was more mellow and great start. Wish I had a cup of coffee at the time. An event for scotch was going on, so no complaints. As the draw went further a subtle little hint of hazelnut came to play. Gentleness and subtlety. Just the way I like to begin the day.
The Burn Part 2:
As the draw continued a bit, the notes have not changed, but a little more draker tone to the cream became apparent. Not too much on the body of the stick since there is still a calm feel to it. The ash was very healthy in between and grey. As the end of the 2nd draw a bit more pepper came into the mix in strength.
The Burn Final:
As the end started to come near, the body built up in strength. I still was in a bit of a distraction as some of the 101 classes were going on. The notes of pepper were still building a bit, but the balance of cream and hazelnut were keeping it at bay. By the end of it, the pepper and cream had a tie for the final puff. The Hazelnut kept behind.
Verdict:
As far as the blend itself, this is a winner in my book. Simple, subtle, and sweet. A great morning cigar with a cup of coffee to be honest. Soon to be available I believe. When they come, I'd recommend grabbing a box.
Will be taking a break for May. Need to do more cigar related art for the group and will making a cigar furs t-shirt too.
See you all June. :D
