And here's a shot from the place where Brer and Wizard were standing in the previous photo, looking back along the cliff face towards where we started. Lake of the Clouds is in the background.
Also a closeup of Wizards packs. We ended up going about 9 miles (Rio too!) and Wizard showed that he was up to the task of carting along his share of the gorp.

We definitely need to get Wizard out in pack again soon. He's getting soft. ;) And out pulling the scooter as well. Too bad he and Rio are going to the groomer tomorrow for a photoshoot that's not for over a week.
Wizard definitely loves his hiking. Sadly, scenery this dramatic is rather hard to find near us, and a good drive away to get to... so you don't really have to be all that envious!

When we lived in Milpitas a few years ago, I discovered that is was just about 12 miles from my front door to the summit of Monument Peak (overlooking San Jose) and back. I never did that full hike (though Yippee, Seether, and I did the 7-mile circuit from the trailhead once)...but hiking is incredibly fun.
Now, looking at the terrain map of the area. I'm going to guess that this photo was taken right about here... 37.0625,-95.677068
You are very close! Based on my GPS track from that trip, when synchronized with my camera, put that photo right about here: 46.794° N, 89.7865° W
Also, I've started playing around with creating trips in EveryTrail. You can see our route and other photos from the trip (with a nice little flash application) here: http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.....trip_id=507141
And yes, we quite enjoy hiking, especially with the huskies. This year we're going to start working Wizard towards his Working Pack Dog title: http://www.shca.org/shcahp6e.htm.
